How soon before the holidays can I get Botox?

Time for turkey and mistletoe, yule logs burning and the smell of Christmas trees. And it's also time for visiting family and for office parties - time to look your best! As we approach this happy, crazy season, a lot of people take a hard look at themselves and realize that they really don't like what they see in the mirror. There comes a point where hair and make-up can't quite “get it done,” and thoughts turn toward Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery (well, maybe Botox^® and JUVÉDERM^®, but you get the idea!) Is it too late?

The bad news is that surgical procedures, especially really powerful ones, are probably off the table.

Facelifts and eyelid surgery can take a week or two to look and feel good enough to go out in public and now isn't the time to feel self-conscious. So let's put those things on hold until after the New Year (Besides, they make great resolutions!)

The good news is that we've got plenty of time to get you looking your best. From peels at our Elite Skin Care Center, to botox and fillers, we only need an hour or so to brighten things up.

A few things to remember though:

• Botox^® and fillers use needles, so bruises can happen. You can lessen the chance by staying away from aspirin and vitamin E for a week or so before you come in, but it's still a risk. So if you have a really special event, try to come in a week beforehand just in case you do get a small bruise. That will give it time to heal.
• It takes Botox^® a few days to work and, if you have fixed wrinkles (think of the “11” between your eyebrows), it will take a month or more for them to soften once the Botox^® kicks in. To get rid of the fixed wrinkles right away, we might need to consider Botox^® and a filler.
• It's a busy time of year for everyone, including us. Please set up your appointment as soon as you can so that we can have you shine for the season!
