Meet Dr. Poindexter
Dr. Byron Poindexter is the president of Austin-Weston, the Center for Cosmetic Surgery, and a talented Reston, VA, plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic procedures for the face, breasts, and body. While a senior in medical school and among the top students in his class at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Poindexter stumbled across the field of plastic surgery.
He was so intrigued by the skill and complexity of plastic surgery that he decided to pursue cosmetic care. Dr. Poindexter is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His goal with cosmetic surgery is to provide his patients with natural-looking results that are beautifully balanced. By enhancing the physical aesthetic of his patients, many of them experience a newfound hope and confidence, which is something Dr. Poindexter loves doing for his patients.
Dr. Poindexter has a gift for performing both surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures for men, women, and transgender people. Some of his top facial procedures include mid-facelifts, nose surgery, chin surgery, around-the-mouth surgery, and neck lifts. In addition, he is skilled in performing body procedures such as loose skin removal after weight loss, arm lifts, and Mommy Makeovers. He is also known for his work in breast augmentations, breast lifts, and breast reductions and is especially talented in performing nonsurgical procedures like body sculpting and cosmetic injectables.
Dr. Poindexter graduated with the highest distinction from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in both chemistry and psychology. From there, he continued his education at the Indiana University School of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he served his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Once he finished his training, he went on to serve his fellowship in plastic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Soon after, Dr. Poindexter joined Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, VA.

Dr. Poindexter has written and published multiple plastic surgery journal articles on various topics, including lip recontouring and surgical treatment of the aged mouth. In addition, he has presented at numerous conventions and science-based conferences across the United States. As a seasoned author and speaker, Dr. Poindexter has presented the Austin-Weston Center’s experience with abdominoplasty at the national meeting of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is constantly working to contribute to academic publications and advance the plastic surgery field through medical research.
